Sudo Play

Tips

Small ways to get more from Sudo Play.

Share today's pick

Everyone who chooses the same genre and mood gets the same playlist all day. Tell a teammate "rock, Debugging", and you are listening to the same thing.

Have a playlist waiting

In Settings, turn on "Open Sudo Play when I log in" and "Remind me of today's pick". When you start work, today's pick is ready.

Set your usual genre and mood

Settings has a default genre and mood, so the window opens on what you listen to most.

No Spotify app? Use the web player

Choose the web player in Settings, and playlists open in your browser.

Keep your hands on the keyboard

Enter plays, N is Next, S is Surprise me, and Esc closes the window. The full list is in How it works.

Use your own catalog

Settings has the catalog URL. Point it at a fork, or at a private catalog of your team's playlists. The app then gets its daily download from that address, instead of from the default one.

Add a playlist without waiting for a release

Once your pull request is merged, your playlist reaches everyone within a day. The README explains how, in Adding a playlist (opens in a new tab).
